Minerals

The main minerals at the Ovruch deposit are quartzites. Quartzite is a metamorphic rock mainly composed of quartz. Formed during the metamorphism of quartz sandstones. Quartzite is characterized by a granular structure, quartz content, high hardness (leaves a scratch on the glass), uneven grain surfaces (no splitting), and a shiny surface in a fracture. Quartzite looks more like marble in appearance. Differs from marble in greater hardness (scratches glass) and in that it does not react with dilute hydrochloric acid. The quality of quartzites is determined by their mineralogical and chemical composition, physical and mechanical properties.

In addition, mineral deposits are also represented:
– quartz sand with SiO2> 99.5, Fe2O3 <0.1%, Al2O3 <0.5%;
-naturally quarry sand Mk 1.78

Areas of use

Quartzite is widely used in various fields:
Metallurgy, used in:
-production of ferroalloys;
-production of dinas products;
-production of various refractory products;
-production of various linings
Construction of roads and railways:
– in the form of crushed stone for the ballast layer of roads and the upper layers of the coating;
– as a rubble stone for sprinkling the foundations of roads and during construction and repair.
Capital construction:
-quartzite crushed stone is used as a filler in concrete mixtures of all brands, including for particularly critical areas;
-button stone is used as an aggregate in foundations, walls in buildings made of concrete or reinforced concrete.
Decorative facing material:
-butovy stone – used for the construction of decorative foundations, fences, fountains, landscape decoration, etc.
– paving stones – for paving sidewalks, streets, squares;
– tiles and slabs – used for wall cladding, flooring.
Water treatment:
-quartzite crushed stone is used for water purification in industrial and household filters
